Morality Education – Tea Ceremony:

MlupPreahThor is on its campaign in trying to change the culture of Cambodian youths from alcohol drinking to tea drinking for promoting the five precepts: not harming lives, not stealing, not committing wrong sex, not lying and not drinking alcohol liquid. Alcohol drinking is an issue within Cambodian people. It wastes time, encourages violence, wasting resources, and other gambling activities such as wrong sex, etc. Based on the recent survey of the government and related UN agencies, 91% of young men drink alcohol or drinks with alcohol. Besides, there are also 70% of young women used to drink alcohol.

MlupPreahThor held its first tea ceremony on 20 November 2553/2010 at Watt Sisovatharam (Watt Phnom Del), Tankrang commune, Batheay district, Kompong Cham province. The objectives of the ceremony were to raise awareness to youths on the implications caused by drinking alcohol and to encourage them to use tea as an alternative. MlupPreahThor also taught them about key advantages and disadvantages of drinking tea, how to make testy tea and how to healthily drink it. There were 150 youths participated including 40 monks and excluding some of their parents. The presentation of the tea ceremony is available at the Publication Page.
